The thinking behind the atlas

A clearer view. An open approach.

LiverFailure.org.uk brings liver knowledge and its evidence into the same view. You can start with plain language, move into clinical detail, and inspect the sources behind the words.

One subject, different depths

Reading depth is a choice, not a label. Patients, relatives, clinicians and researchers can move between plain, clinical, specialist and research views wherever that depth is available. The same claim and source trail supports every view.

Content review

Content has been reviewed and approved. Sources remain visible so you can inspect the evidence behind the information.

Use your healthcare team for advice about your own situation. For the site’s existing NHS-sourced urgent guidance, visit when to get urgent help.

Follow the evidence

Medical statements refer to claims, and claims refer to sources at precise locations. The evidence library makes that trail inspectable. The Register records what has not been established.

Knowledge that opens up

The folded-page mark and sculptural open-book artwork retain the folded-page design selected for this website, with the burgundy palette requested on 21 October 2026. The artwork is conceptual brand imagery, created with ImageGen. It does not depict anatomy, medical evidence or a clinical result.

The site uses Inter Tight typography under the SIL Open Font Licence and Phosphor interface icons under the MIT licence. Fonts, icons and images are served locally. No third-party font service, advertising or tracking is loaded.
